We are delighted to have been awarded a Climate Action Leeds 2024 microgrant. The project will be delivered in partnership with Climate Action Seacroft and will be based in LS14 (Killingbeck community allotment and Seacroft Forest garden). We will be delivering an eight-week program of 2.5hr sessions as a structured path to learn mindfulness skills, food growing and nature connection. The funding panel said that they appreciated the community engagement element of the project, as well as our focus on connecting nature and taking action.

The project embodies the five ways to wellbeing:

  • Connection; Sessions include opportunities to share deeply with others.  Climate action Leeds has begun conversations with local people through collaborative, community led conversations around climate change. We will support nature connection.
  • Be active; We will help people move physically in a safe way in their food growing and mindful movement activity.
  • Take notice; Living with difficult experiences can lead people to close down/ withdraw. We support people to compassionately turn towards all of their experience including their responses to climate change.
  • Keep learning;  Learning new skills, in food growing as well as mindfulness.
  • Give; participants will share knowledge, skills and experience and harvested produce.
