About us
Our team came together as a co-operative because we enjoy working together and we have found practicing mindfulness transformative in our own lives. We are passionate about sharing this with others.

- We work in partnership to tackle health inequalities and are known for innovative ways of adapting and creating programmes for different communities and circumstances.
- We support organisations, both leaders and at grassroots, to embed learning from mindfulness training into their culture.
- We nurture mindfulness teachers and carry out research to make our programmes more effective.
- We aspire to contribute to more compassionate and cohesive communities in Leeds, Bradford, Yorkshire and beyond.
- We are a not for profit community interest company, working for public benefit as a co-operative.
- We aim to provide a service that is inclusive regardless of age, economic status, health, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or disability.
Our training
Our mindfulness teachers are all trained by Breathworks and accredited to deliver Mindfulness for Health and Mindfulness for Stress courses. Our teachers maintain annual registration with the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA) and/or Breathworks (a BAMBA founding member). This means we follow a code of ethics, have a personal mindfulness practice which we maintain with regular retreats and take part in Continuing Professional Development and supervision. We work in a trauma informed way.
We have DBS checks and safeguarding training. Our team have experience in working to support mental health. Additional experience held in the team includes counselling, teaching, social work, community work, management, research, ecology and nature-based work.
Our roots
Members of our team have been running Breathworks Mindfulness courses in Leeds since 2007. We became a Community Interest Company in 2017.
The Breathworks programme and Leeds Mindfulness Co-op, along with other mindfulness based approaches, use practices drawn from the Buddhist tradition. We value our Buddhist roots, which inform the ethos of the co-op and the way we work. Our team includes both Buddhists and non-Buddhists.
We are committed to providing a programme of accessible mindfulness and compassion training suitable for people of any faith and none.
